Artspace | METAL-ITY Public Art Exhibit

ArtSpace Maynard’s “METAL-ITY” is a dynamic year-long outside public art exhibition. The ongoing and revolving installation of 50 or more metal artworks on the surrounding ArtSpace grounds. The work pays homage to the vital role the ‘ores of the earth,’ have played in the evolution of human culture. Also honoring Maynard’s past as a mill town shaped by the Industrial Revolution to be illustrated by industrial, public art in the new urban landscape. Artists from all over New England and many local sculptors will be represented in the exhibit.

METAL-ITY will be on display on Sept 19, 2020 through Nov 1, 2021

A mobile public arts collaboration between ArtSpace Maynard & The Revolving Museum

Saturday, May 2nd, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM:
The Revolving Museum and ArtSpace Maynard are teaming up this month, on a bilingual traveling public artwork. “The Corona/Crown Project” honors efforts of first-responders, healthcare workers, and the everyday people making sacrifices to keep themselves and their communities safe from COVID-19, the Coronavirus.

Join Revolving Museum Artistic Director Coraly Rivera and ArtSpace Maynard Executive Director Jerry Beck, as they present the “Corona/Crown Project,” which incorporates two transformed art-mobiles displaying bilingual poetry and the artistic contributions of more than 100 artists and community members.

Participants were asked to make ‘CURE CELLS,’ their personal interpretation on possible ‘weapons’ against the pandemic battle. These ‘anti-viral’ artworks are represented by circular illustrations, paintings, photographs, and mixed-media collage.

If time permits, meeting attendees will be invited to share their responses to this exciting project.
