En Plein Air Foliage Painting at the Assabet Co-op Market!

🍁 Announcing our first En Plein Air Foliage Painting at the Assabet Co-op Market! 🍁

Join us Saturday, October 7, 11am-6pm (rain date Oct. 😎, to watch local painters create their masterpieces while overlooking the foliage beside the Assabet River. Stop by at any time throughout the event to be part of this one-of-a-kind experience.

At the conclusion of our En Plein Air event on Indigenous People’s Weekend, all five masterpieces created by our local artists will be auctioned off to benefit Nipmuc Nation Hassanamisco Band, the indigenous tribe on whose land the co-op sits.

A little about Nipmuc Nation & Our Oct. 7 En Plein Air Event::

“It is the sacred mission of all the members of our community to preserve and promote the culture, language, and values of the Nipmuc People, while striving to improve the quality of life for all our citizens, including the generations to come. With nearly 600 members, we can continue to be one of New England’s most historic and largest native communities.”

Maynard Porchfest 2023!

What is Porchfest?

Art bringing the community together

Maynard Porchfest is one day in town where artists, of all sorts get to share their art or music with the community. Multiple porches throughout  town are set up as stages and the community visits and mingles at the ones they choose.  Join us Sunday October 1st for a day of fun.

Porchfest Tips:
~Please be careful of traffic and park responsibly
~Please park all the cars on the same side as the house you are at, in the direction of traffic. All cars should be on one side of the street only, facing the same direction, unless local laws dictate otherwise
~Do not block, driveways, fire hydrants or other vehicles
~Bring your own Chairs and/or blankets , umbrellas, snacks, beverages, sunscreen, bugspray, etc.
~Feel free to tip the musicians, everyone is a volunteer this year
~Please take your trash with you and be respectful of the host’s property
~This is foremost a musical event, please keep conversations low or sit in the back if you must talk, the audience is here to listen
~Cheer, applaud and dance if you are moved to do so, the artists are giving their all to perform for you, let’s give it right back by showing appreciation

These dogs do such amazing things
They get disbelieving looks
They catch frisbees, do great tricks
Okay, they don’t shelve books!

You’ve seen dogs do tricks on the ground, but these dogs do tricks while leaping in mid-air! One of them I think played for the Red Sox. You’ll definitely have a “ruff” time if you miss this show!

Paint rocks to hide around the library, or around town, and decorate the path along the StoryWalk with colorful chalk art!

There’ll be police cars, fire engines

The parade has trucks – a lot

Diggers, dinosaurs, dump trucks

Okay, dinosaurs maybe not!

If you come to the truck parade, you’ll:

a. Watch all your favorite trucks drive by in a big parade

b. Get free ice cream from the ice cream truck

c. Get your driver’s license, okay not that but you’ll get to meet the drivers

We’re partnering with Revolution Community Yoga for a 4-class Yoga By the River series! These Slow Flow yoga classes are open to all levels and take place Tuesdays, 8:15-9am (weather permitting) on our back deck overlooking the beautiful Assabet River. Classes are just $15 and a portion of proceeds go to the co-op.
